Power BI has the ability to connect to many sources from which you can get data. And Microsoft, the owner of the tool, constantly updates this list. So we can easily extract data from an Excel file, Access, Sharepoint or Azure space, as well as from company systems such as ERP, SQL databases or Oracle databases, etc. It is also possible to connect to social media, Google, and even Amazon sales data. #1. Splitting columns by delimiter

You can split a column with a ej leads text data type into two or more columns using a common delimiter, such as a comma. Select the column you want to split. Make sure it is a text data type. Select Tools , then split columns by delimiter. A dialog box appears asking you to select a delimiter (colon, comma, equal sign, semicolon, space, tab, or custom). Select advanced options, then enter the number of columns or rows to split. If you choose custom, then enter the delimiter. Finally, rename the columns to something more descriptive. You can split a column into:

  • Left delimiter   If there are multiple delimiters, the first split column is based on the leftmost delimiter, and the second split column is based on
  • the remaining characters on the right.

  • Right delimiterIf there are multiple delimiters, the second split column is based on the rightmost delimiter, and the first split column is based on the remaining characters on the left.
  • Each occurrence of a delimiterIf there are multiple delimiters, split each column by the delimiter. For example, if you have three delimiters, you have four columns.
